In a remarkable political move that reflects the growing civil movement and popular will for change, the “Independents’ Alliance” announced today, Thursday, May 29, 2025, its active and essential participation in the formation of “The Alternative Alliance,” as a new political framework aimed at breaking the deadlock and restoring hope to the Iraqi street.
The alliance confirmed in an official statement received by Al-Mustaqila that this step stems from “a deep belief in national responsibility and a sincere desire to end the cycle of failure and division that has exhausted the country.” It pointed out that “The Alternative Alliance” represents a national civil project that seeks to express the aspirations of the “silent majority” of the people who have lost faith in traditional political frameworks.
An Alternative Civil Project… A Discourse Beyond Sectarian Quotas.
The statement clarified that the Independents’ Alliance’s contribution to the formation of “The Alternative Alliance” is part of “a national vision based on the values of integrity, competence, and collective work,” away from the logic of sectarian and narrow partisan quotas, which the alliance considered among the main causes of political and institutional decline in the country.
It added that “Iraq today needs a realistic political project that restores citizens’ trust in the state and puts the interests of the people above all else,” calling for an end to the traditional frameworks that have proven their failure over the past years.
An Open Invitation to National Talents.
In this context, the Independents’ Alliance extended a “sincere” invitation to all independent national figures known for their competence and integrity to join this new political project and contribute to its success, to be “a true voice for the citizen and a genuine path toward an Iraq of sovereignty, justice, and equal opportunities.”
Readiness to Participate in the 2025 Elections.
The alliance also emphasized the importance of the upcoming electoral entitlement—the 2025 parliamentary elections—considering that the next stage requires “joining forces, uniting ranks, and opening the doors to new energies that believe in change and work toward it.”
The Independents’ Alliance expressed its confidence that the voice of independents will be “decisive in shaping a different future worthy of the sacrifices of the Iraqi people.” It stressed that “The Alternative Alliance” will not be just another political label, but a genuine starting point for changing the political course toward a state of justice, sovereignty, and equal opportunities.
“Together… We are the alternative.”
With this slogan, the Independents’ Alliance concluded its statement, sending a clear message to all civil forces and national figures that the time has come to crystallize an alternative political project that reflects the aspirations of the Iraqi people and gives them real hope for a different future.
